Effective Communication

A program component is available at the Dayle McIntosh Center to provide specialized assistance to persons with hearing impairments in order to facilitate effective communication. A registry of qualified sign language interpreters is maintained for referral in situations such as doctor’s appointments, employment interviews, parent-teacher conferences, and on-the-job training. This service may also be accessed by public and private agencies, businesses, schools, and other community entities that need a mechanism for interacting with persons, who are deaf. A 24-hour on-call interpreter service is also maintained for use in medical or law enforcement situations.
